  5. Southwood Driving School was established by Balwinder Chaggar in 2007. She is not only the company owner but also the chief driving instructor with over 9 years of experience. Balwinder’s years of instruction has given her the opportunity to train individuals with varying background knowledge. This allowed her to develop the ability to adapt her teaching style based on each individual student’s skill and comfort level. Whether you have never been behind the wheel or you have a license from a foreign country, she can customize the lessons to your needs.   6. Be A Confident Driver In No Time! Best Driving School Edmonton Class 7 Learners Training This session is meant for beginner level students who have little to no experience behind the wheel and are preparing to write the written exam required to get a class 7 learners license. A class 7 license is a learners license, meaning a class 5 non-GDL license holder, who is 18 years of age of older, is required to accompany anyone who has a

  7. class 7 license. Our experienced instructors take the time to review the drivers training manual one on one with students looking to obtain the class 7 license. Class 5 Graduated Driver License (GDL) This course is meant for students who have successfully obtained the class 7 learners and qualify to move forward to the class 5 GDL. To qualify for the class 5 GDL, all new drivers, regardless of age, must complete one year as a learner. You must also be 16 years of age or older to qualify for this license. This training includes 10 hours behind the wheel, with the option of a 15 hour in class insurance reduction course. In the 10 hours behind the wheel, we make sure our students understand all the important driving concepts through one on one in vehicle instruction. We believe that it

  8. is important to start with the very basic concepts about driving and move forward at a pace that our students are comfortable with. By the end of the final lesson, we ensure our students are confident in their ability to drive safely and follow the traffic laws. Once the 10 hours of in vehicle training is completed, our students have the confidence and skills required to complete the driving exam to obtain the Class 5 GDL license. The optional 15 hours in class insurance reduction course includes the study of the most up to date, Government of Alberta approved content. There is a written exam upon completion of the in class lessons. Once completed, our students are issued a certificate of completion to guarantee insurance premiums are reduced.

  9. Class 5 Non-GDL This course is meant for students who already have a class 5 GDL looking to obtain the class 5 Non-GDL. In order to exit the GDL program you must have had the class 5 GDL for a minimum of two years. The class 5 Non-GDL is considered a full license. This training includes 6 hours behind the wheel. Student who have a foreign license MAY be approved for the Non- GDL advanced license without having to wait any time period. Class 4 Advanced Training This advanced training course is meant for students wishing to obtain a class 4 license. This consists of training which is tailored for commercial vehicles such as taxi, ambulance, and school buses, as well as the vehicles that the holder of a class 5 license may operate.

  10. Hourly Lessons This course is ideal for students who require a customized program. Whether you require a couple hours of brush up lessons or you feel you don’t need the entire course, this option is perfect for you. A minimum booking of two hours is required Car Rental We can provide you with a vehicle to use for your road test if required (fee charged).
