  1. The Beginning of Film By Desiree Brown

  2. The Start of Cinema • The magic of cinema today is a dream and a power that can be both frightening and a blessing. It is because of cinema that we have all the convenient technologies and sources of entertainment; however, what a lot of people don’t know is that the US was not responsible for the starting of it, “Only the perfection of it” said Mr. Seller.

  3. The Lumiere Brothers • The Lumiere brothers were born in France and worked in a factory that manufactured photographic equipment. Inspired by Thomas Edison’s work, they created the Cinematograph. A hand held devise that could project movie images simply by cranking it into action. Their invention was later patented in February, 1895.

  4. US Development • When the Lumiere brother’s invention made it across the Atlantic to the Unites States photographic companies made a standard piece of equipment for all filming and photography.

  5. Edison’s Best • The first motion picture was invented by Edison and his assistant William Dickson. The pictures would roll in a giant box projecting moving images through what looked like binoculars, where the viewer would watch a short film. This was the Kinetoscope. Even though people think Edison was the one who invented this it was really Dickson. Edison only provided research and information to complete and perfect the Kinetograph.

  6. The entertainment battle • After Edison claimed the Kinetograph to be his invention his company started to make and do more films as the public demanded. But it was not always meant to be about him. Other companies began to form, creating and producing more films; and instead of having people look through holes to watch a film, projectors were made to show up on screens of white so whole groups could see.

  7. Edison’s Throw Down • From 1893 to 1911 the Edison’s Manufacturing Company held on to it’s power within the filming industry but a couple years after the Lumiere Brothers invention was made and other companies were made, Edison was overwhelmed by all and eventually lost the fight to keep his company going. Loosing to new inventions and perfections of to his own by other companies such as the American Vitograph Company. Edison’s biggest compitition.

  8. Where Film is Now • After a few years film was taken to a whole new level making illusion and special affects a reality. Today everything technical devise has access to videos, movies, music, reality shows and so on. We owe this all to those first men who turned film into what it is today and the truth would be that it is pure magic. “Give em the old razzle dazzle” –Broadway musical Chicago
