LITTLE LAMBS ACADEMY PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION EVALUATION WHOLE CHILD DEVELOPMENT • Social/Emotional Intelligence • Includes: Participation, following the direction of a teacher, becoming familiar with routine, exposure to other children, joy of musicand movement, developing relationships with teachers and peers, self-regulation, cooperation, taking turns, sharing • Academic • Includes: sensory exploration, language and literacy, joy of learning, making choices, engagement in learning process, natural environment exploration, experimentation, numbers and manipulation of numbers • Physical/Play • Includes: small motor and large motor skills, balance, developing interactive and imaginative play • Spiritual • Includes: Chapel / Jesus Time, prayer, character development, kindness, caring attitude, reading the Bible The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation (NLSA), and the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) all believe children are natural learners who grow and thrive within high-quality early learning programs. To evaluate the growth progress of our students, from birth through send-off to Kindergarten, Little Lambs Academy adheres to the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards. Learning targets that appear on our daily sheets, communication boards, report cards, and portfolio contents all derive from state and national standards for childhood development.   3. LITTLE LAMBS ACADEMY • EARLY LEARNING AND CARE • INFANT OPTIONS • TODDLER OPTIONS • PRE-3K OPTIONS Infant and 2T classes are offered for those families who have a loving adult able to attend with their child. Class attendance is not required for those families who utilize child care only.

The teachers are experienced educators whose mission is to nurture, teach and care for your child in a cozy, loving environment, rich with experiential activities, and infused with a love of Jesus through prayer, infant Bible stories and songs. CORE INFANT PARENT/CHILD CLASS LEARNING CORE INFANT CHILD CARE LEARNING • Social/Emotional Intelligence • Focus: Develop a sense of self and others, learn to respond to and interact with others, explore their world through their senses, feeling safe and loved, family-like atmosphere • Academic • Focus: Beginning language acquisition, love of learning through exploration, cause and effect, building, stacking, rolling, observing, reading, reading and more reading • Physical/Play • Focus: Ample time to engage in play, pincher grasp, small muscle control, large muscle development, balance, core muscle development • Spiritual • Focus: Character development through baby Bible stories, prayers, and conversations about the love of Jesus • Social/Emotional Intelligence • Focus: Participation, following a teacher, becoming familiar with routine, exposure to other children, joy of music, puppets, and dancing • Academic • Focus: sensory exploration, language exposure, beginning sounds, joy of learning • Physical/Play • Focus: small motor skills with bubbles and sensory exploration, large motor skills through use of soft gym equipment, balance, interactive play opportunities with other babies • Spiritual • Focus: Short devotions, Jesus time songs, and prayers PROGRAM TIMES Child Care Infant Class Children transition from Infant to Toddler programs shortly after their 2nd birthday. We promote the development of the whole child by learning through play and exploration, in a nurturing, caring environment rich with experiential activities, and infused with a love of Jesus through prayer, toddler Bible stories and songs. CORE TODDLER LEARNING TODDLER CHILD CARE • Social/Emotional Intelligence • Focus: Participation, following directions, transitioning from one activity to another, sharing, taking turns • Academic • Focus: Colors, letter sounds, literacy through stories, counting, excitement for learning • Physical/Play • Focus: Emergent imaginative play, learning to function in a group setting, beginning fine and gross motor skill development, ball work, balance, running, jumping • Spiritual • Focus: Character development through Bible stories and the examples of Jesus, kindness Our toddler child care teachers are experienced educators whose mission is to love, nurture, teach and care for your child in a school-like environment. They encourage whole child development with enriching, experiential activities, and instill a love of Jesus by praying, reading toddler Bible stories, and singing Jesus time songs. Children transition from Toddler to Pre-3K programs shortly after their 3rd birthday. As in all our other programs, students develop a lifelong love of learning by exploring their world together with caring teachers and other students. We promote the development of the whole child by learning through play and exploration, and focusing on character building, academic skills, social and emotional intelligence, and physical readiness, all built on a foundation of faith and love for Jesus! CORE PRE-3K LEARNING PRE-3K CHILD CARE Our Pre-3K child care teachers are experienced educators whose mission is to love, nurture, teach and care for your child in a school-like environment. They encourage whole child development with enriching, experiential activities, and instill a love of Jesus by praying, reading the toddler Bible, and singing Jesus time songs. Child care wraps around the Pre-3K class to meet the needs of working families. Parents can customize their child’s learning experience by selecting one or two class days. Children in our FLEXIBLE JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMengage in a lifelong love of learning by exploring their world together with caring teachers and other 3K and 4K students. We promote the development of the whole child by learning through play and exploration, and focusing on character building, academic skills, social and emotional intelligence, and physical readiness, all built on a foundation of faith and love for Jesus! In this multi-age classroom, students engage in an inquiry learning curriculum specially created to address their varied developmental needs, utilizing small group, large group and individual learning opportunities. JK–Flex is designed to easily meet the wrap-around care needs of working parents.
