To be a well-rounded student, one must not only excel in state standards for reading, writing, mathematics, and science but also demonstrate an ability to integrate knowledge across disciplines. In today's educational landscape, where students are often rewarded for synthesizing disconnected information, studying the visual arts becomes crucial. It encourages students to break down barriers between subjects, allowing them to explore the standard curriculum from a fresh perspective and create meaningful connections among diverse fields of study.

The well-rounded student not only has to meet state standards and demonstrate proficiency in the foundational skills of reading, writing, mathematics, and science, but also has to be able to make interconnections among disparate disciplines.
