What are music downloads? • Music is defined as: The art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. • Downloading is defined as: To transfer (data or programs) from a server or host computer to one's own computer or device.

  3. Napster • Napster is a protocol for sharing files between users. With Napster, the files stay on the client machine, never passing through the server. The server provides the ability to search for particular files and initiate a direct transfer between the clients.

  4. iMesh • iMesh is a search tool that lets you locate and download audio, images, documents, and video files from a growing community of 7 million people. The files themselves are located on the computers of other iMesh users who have agreed to share their files and can be transferred from one desktop to another without a server in between. Downloads are very fast and can be resumed later if a file's owner disconnects from iMesh. The patent-pending iMesh technology allows you to download files from up to seven users at the same time.

  8. KaZaa Lite • Kazaa Lite is a Peer-to-Peer File Sharing application that does not contain any 'Spyware'. Kazaa Lite provides sharing of all kinds of media and software. It is a 'FastTrack' Client, which means it connects to the FastTrack P2P network system, just like some other popular file sharing programs like Kazaa, Grokster and iMesh. Kazaa Lite can download single files from multiple users to ensure you get the most efficient use of your bandwidth. (The amount of data that can be passed along a communications channel in a given period of time.) They also resumes broken downloads or downloads that were in progress when you shut down your computer last. All-in-all, FastTrack is a very good, very powerful P2P system.

  9. How to Download Kazaa Lite?

  10. First Step • Go to Yahoo.com • In the search engine type “Kazaa” • Once results appear click on “Kazaalite”

  11. Second Step cont. • Scroll down until you get to the grey chart. • Select the first row second column that says “Accept Terms and Download” • Click Download bar in pop-up box

  13. Third Step • Click “Save” to save on the computer • Downloading will begin • Once Downloading is complete, click folder on desktop “kazaaliteup” • Then click extract files

  14. Fourth Step • Once complete, reopen Kazaaliteup, double click “HOST” • Make sure to use the web service to find the appropriate program. • Return to desktop

  15. Fifth Step • Click on folder labeled kazaalite_20… • Click on “first stage” and follow directions. • Click on “second stage” in the same pop-up box and follow directions • Do again this time clicking on the “third stage”

  16. Sixth Stage • Click on New Kazaa Icon and begin to search • Type in Artist or Song Title • Once results appear, left-click and download

  17. Seventh Step • To watch the progress of the song downloading click the traffic button located on top toolbar • To listen to the song downloaded, click My Kazaa Lite, select song • Press Play at bottom of screen
