Verb Groups • U-VerbsThe dictionary form of an U-Verb like iku can be broken down into the verb base (ik+u=iku, for example). • Ru-Verbsare so called because you add the suffix ru to the verb base (tabe+ru=taberu, for example) • Irregular-VerbsThere are two irregular verbs in Japanese. Suru andKuru. The vowels in the irregular verbs’ bases are different in the dictionary forms and long forms.
