  2. About University University came into existence on September 1, 2005. However the history of the University dates back to 1969 when the Teachers’ Training College was founded. In 1975 the college gained Higher Pedagogical School status with the right to offer Master’s programs. Nowadays Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz is the largest university in our city, the second largest one in the region.

  9. NEW INVESTMENTS UKW Main Library A modern, computerised unit which serves not only students and academic staff of the University but also all who wish to use its services. The library archives include over 700 thousand volumes. Customers use digital catalogues and on-line ordering. The UKW Main Library and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń have jointly created the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Digital Library. The archives include over 2,500 old prints, the oldest being Historia Ecclesiastica published by Jan Schallus in 1479 and Biblia published by Jan Froben and Jan Petri in 1498

  10. NEW INVESTMENTS Centre for Physical Education and Sport The modern centre, co-finansed from the European funds is to be open in 2013. It will be fully equipped in basic facilities as well as professional instrumentation. It will consist of numerous halls, swimming pool and laboratories.

  11. Polish Teaching Centre for Foreigners The Centre offers courses for beginners and advanced groups, as well as a unique program for groups of students fromPolish and SlavicDepartments.For the duration of the course, there is a possibility of accommodation in a dormitory of our university.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION • The University can boast experience in carrying out international cooperation activities. • In order to encourage students and staff mobility Kazimierz Wielki University has been increasing number of majors. • There are over 15 bilateral agreements and about 70 Erasmus agreements with the universities all over Europe and beyond. • Our students and academic workers can benefit from numerous exchange and mobility programmes, e.g. Lifelong Learning Programme (Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Grundtvig).
