Understanding Standards - Project Brief • Providing additional exemplification of AIT: GU1 Exemplar 1; Version 1 produced in May 2010 • Using suggested solutions and marking schemes to mark candidate scripts • Three “live” candidate scripts gathered at Central Verification Event June 2011 • A Grade • B Grade • C Grade

Understanding Standards – Marking Candidate Scripts • By showing how the marking scheme is applied • helps Centre staff to make effectiveassessment decisions • supports process of internal verification • provides marker training for new markers • highlights good practice in showing clearly where marks are being awarded • E-comments give further detail on why mark/s awarded or why not awarded.

Understanding Standards – Guidance on Grading Candidates • Short narrative included at the end of each script showing overall comment. • Exemplify guidance on grading candidates and give examples of candidate responses in relation to the grade related criteria. • A - clear, well structured, coherent • B - reasonably well structured, acceptable standard throughout • C - limited explanation and analysis
