  3. The Basics • Most basic figures of geometry are: • Points • Lines • Planes • Often referred to as undefined terms • Not defined in terms of other figures

  4. Points • Often shown as dots • Unlike physical dots, geometric points have no size • Named by capital letters such as A or X

  5. Lines • A geometric line has no thickness, is perfectly straight, and extends forever • Can be named 2 different ways

  6. Planes • Extend infinitely in all directions along a FLAT surface • Examples: top of your desk, the front of your textbook • Can be named 2 different ways

  7. Collinear & Coplanar • If a single line can contain all points • Any two points are collinear. • Points that can be contained by a single plane. • Any three points are coplanar
