  1. Sango Elementary Monday, October 24, 2011 Reading Our story this week is “Leonardo’s Horse. Vocabulary words for this story are: achieved, architect, bronze, cannon, depressed, fashioned, midst, philosopher, rival.Test Friday! Language Arts We will be studying main, helping, linking and irregular verbs this week. Assessment next Wednesday. Math Students will take a quiz on Tuesday demonstrating their knowledge of multiplication and estimating products. We will begin long division with one digit divisors. Math Superstars lesson III is Monday and lesson IV is due on Friday. Science Students will discover the three stages of matter and differentiate between each. Students will compare physical and chemical properties, and define volume, density, mass, and buoyancy. Ask your child about using the temperature probes last week! Social Studies We are continuing our study of the civil war. I will be sending home a take home test Wednesday to be completed and returned by Friday. Students will have to put the page number and paragraph where they find their answer as part of their grade. Civil War projects were assigned last week. The written research portion of the project is due November 16th. Presentations will be the 21st and 22nd SpellingThis week’s spelling words are from “Leonardo’s Horse” in the spelling book. For those bringing a lunch, please remember to pack it in a disposable bag. Please be mindful of the weather and dress appropriately. • Picture retakes are on October 26th. Students will take their picture prior to loading the bus for the field trip. Students must have a note from parents if they are to participate in retakes. • Civil War written research projects due November 16th. Presentations will be November 21st and 22nd.
