  3. Meetings • 1. Organizational, Calendar Planning, set 2016 goals and discuss expectations, discuss service projects and assign leaders. • 2. Preparation and organization for Summer Projects - Taste of Kirksville Club Fair, PACT Mini Med School, Truman Mentor-Mentee program, Anatomy Mock Practical #1. • 3. Preparation and organization for Fall Projects – Mock Anatomy Practical #2, Merit Badge, Dr. Bag, etc. • 4. Preparation and Organization for Winter Projects – Board Review Program USMLE vs. COMLEX, Show a Little Love, etc. • 5. Preparation and Organization for Spring Projects – SSP 101, fundraising, Induction of class of 2017, etc.

  4. 2013-2014 Projects • May 2013: Designated Driver Program • August: Activities Fair – Taste of Kirksville; Alumni Lecture Co-Sponsor; PACT Mini Med School; Anatomy Mock Practical I; Mentor-Mentee Program for TSU • September: Application/Interview for new members • October: Anatomy Mock Practical II • November: Dr. Bag; Merit Badge • December: Board meeting with Tim Tucker; Holiday Photos with Dr. Still • January: Spring Induction Prep; Business Week Co-Sponsor • February: Show a little love project • March: SSP 101 • April 2014: New Member Induction

  5. Designated Driver Program • Drivers for the graduating Class of 2013. They celebrated their achievement at the local winery and we will be available to provide safe transportation home for them • To ensure safety and fun while promoting responsibility

  6. Mini Med School - PACT • PACT serves approximately 300 people in the Adair County with developmental disabilities and encourage independence, uniqueness, self-esteem, and community involvement. • Mini Med School booths: • Nutrition • Bones & joints • “Doctor bag” • Exercises and stretches • Oral health • Wound care • OMM demo • Splints & wraps

  7. Anatomy Mock Practical • SSP members conduct two mock anatomy practicalsto help prepare 1styear medical students for success

  8. Pre-Med Mentoring • Give opportunity to students to ask questions regarding medical school • Set up Mock Medical School interviews for applicants • Provide a long-term (year-long) mentor for each student – classes, applications, etc. • Q & A panel: opportunity for pre-meds to ask current medical students questions about the application process.

  9. Dr. Bag Program • Members visit local preschools and kindergarten classes • Local children learn about the instruments used by doctors and nurses • Children have the opportunity to ask questions and share stories regarding their experiences with their doctor!

  10. Boy/Girl Scout Merit Badge College • Complete all objectives necessary for boys to earn Medicine badgeand girls to earn Health badge

  11. Show-A-Little-Love! • Thank you cards for the faculty/staff • Delivered with homemade goodies!

  12. Other Events • Alumni Lecture • Board Prep with Tim Tucker • SSP 101 • Spring Inductions • Business Week

  13. Goals • To maintain our status on campus and national stage • To reach out to Alumni SSP members to create a social network for students • To expand our involvement and encourage collaboration with other ATSU organizations and the Kirksville community
