  2. Warm-up 10/14 and 10/15 • In 1-3 sentences, tell me what you already know about Christopher Columbus.

  3. Today we will • Explain what happened to the Vikings who explored Newfoundland • Describe the voyages of Christopher Columbus • Explain the importance of the Columbian Exchange

  5. After your webquest, • Turn in your webquest and pick up your vocabulary homework, I want you to begin working on finding the definitions to four of the highlighted words from the webquest that we worked on.

  6. After your Vocabulary Builder is complete… • Turn to page 36 in your America book. • Read pages 36-41. Answer #1-6, a-b • Also answer the Checkpoint question under the Columbian Exchange paragraphs • Afterwords….

  8. Warm-up: 10/16 and 10/17 • Read “Life at the Time” on pages 42 and 43 of your America textbook • Complete the Analyze section of the reading on page 43. Do this on your own paper. • After 15mins we will share our answers with the class. • If you get done before the 15mins is up, answer the poll on Edmodo about IE time.

  19. Today we will: • Dissect North America into the 4 major foreign territories. • Investigate the rise and fall of the first British colony. • Examine the development of the first successful British settlement of Jamestown in VA. • Explore the development of the original 13 colonies.

  20. The Break-up of the Americas • Britain will lay claim to much of the east coast in North America • Spain will claim Florida, Mexico, and present day, TX, NM, AZ, CO, CA, NV, UT, and bits of OK. • France will claim much of the area in the Plains region, and Canada.

  22. The First Colony (Aka the Lost Colony) • We are going to complete research on the Lost Colony. This colony is the first British colony on American soil. So how did it become lost? Why didn’t it succeed? We will answer these questions and more.

  23. Today’s activity: • Log-on to Edmodo.com. • Find the assignment “The Lost Colony.” • Type directly into the document that I have attached. You MUST use COMPLETE SENTENCES!!!! • You are to work with the person who is sitting across from you. • If you do not finish this in class, it is homework.

  35. Today we will…. • Demonstrate our organizational skills with a notebook check. • Analyze the 2nd successful settlement in the English territory. This settlement is known as Plymouth. • Identify key vocabulary terms for our unit on the 13 Original Colonies thru Beginnings of the American Revolution.
