  3. History/Purpose • 2001-2002 a committee of arts educators convened • Goals • Advocate for our district wide programs • Involve all schools and as many children and families as possible • Showcase ALL art forms (visual art, dance, theater and music) • Fundraise for Arts Education programs

  4. History/Purpose • A partnership with the City of Peoria/ Sports Complex staff • A partnership with Peoria Education Foundation • 2002-2003 we operated the first Arts Festival

  6. P.E.F. Grants for Arts Educators • Proceeds of the festival have been used for: • unique classroom learning opportunities • special equipment for arts classroom use • P.E.F has been able to offer nearly100 arts grants over the past 11years in upwards of $140,000 • They have been awarded to visual and performing arts teachers district wide

Spring of 2012- Entered discussions with the City about moving the festival to a downtown location. • July of 2012- Finalized the partnership and finalized a date. • Multiple meetings about available resources hurdles, and desired outcomes. • Peoria Unified committee of arts educators assembled to view the location and facilities.

  14. Utilize public facilities that accentuate student performances • The location heightened the concept of community connectedness • Ability for us to offer activities for children in dance, visual art and music. • Free event for our community. • Interesting and unique food choices.

  15. Peoria Arts and Cultural Festival • Roughly $18,000 in sponsorships • Roughly $3,000 in paid activities • Attracted well over 11,000 visitors • 500 participants in arts workshops and activities • The goals of the City, the Foundation and Peoria Unified Arts Education were met
