  2. Not everyone is going to be saved. Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, cf. Mark 16:15 Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

  3. Reasons people are lost: • Don’t think they are lost, so make no effort.

  4. Don’t think they are lost • The skeptic • The satisfied religious. • Adherents of false religions, Matthew 22:37, Hebrews 11:6 • Those following false doctrines, 2 Peter 3:14-18 • The lukewarm, Revelation 3:14-17

  5. Reasons people are lost: • Don’t think they are lost, so make no effort. • Don’t believe.

  6. Don’t believe • Psalm 14:1 The fool has said in his heart,“There is no God.”… • 2 Peter 3:1-4

  7. Don’t believe • Luke 8:12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Cf. Matthew 13:19 • John 8:24, Hebrews 11:6, Mark 16:16

  9. Trust in morality • Saved apart from Christ • Matthew 1:21, John 14:6, Ephesians 1:7 • Saved apart from faith. • Saved apart from the church. • Ephesians 5:23, 1:22-23; Acts 2:47; 1 Peter 1:10-12; Ephesians 2:6-10, 3:8-12 • Cornelius, Acts 10; The rich young ruler, Mark 10:17-22

  10. Reasons people are lost: • Don’t think they are lost, so make no effort. • Don’t believe. • Trust in morality. • Love sin.

They love sin. • Hebrews 11:25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, • No lasting happiness, no contentment, no fulfillment • John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. • 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 1 John 2:15-17

Love the praise of men • John 12:42-43 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. • Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18 • Galatians 1:10; Philippians 3:3-7

  15. Be saved today! • Believe, John 3:16 • Confess, Romans 10:10 • Repent, Acts 17:30 • Be Baptized, 1 Peter 3:21 • Be Faithful, Hebrews 3:14
