  3. Timeline • Oct - Nov: department T&P committees • Dec: portfolios forwarded to Dean • Materials added • Department ballots • Department head’s recommendation • Jan: Deans make recommendations • All parties concerned receive copy, including FTPC

  4. Timeline • Jan: Candidates email materials to FTPC • Deans verify and place candidates’ portfolios in FTPC evidence room • Jan-Feb: FTPC review • Questions, if necessary, presented in writing • March: FTPC voting

  5. The Review Process + comm. recomm. dossier Candidate School/Department T&P Committee Academic Dean January October - December + dean’s recomm. January 5 + FTPC recomm. February January 12 Provost FTPC FTPC deliberations March 18

  6. Voting • Written ballots • Departmental representative abstains • Positive recommendation requires two-thirds majority

  7. Second Reviews • If needed can be requested • Positive result: only second review goes forward to the Provost • Negative result: both first and second reviews go forward

  8. Recommendations • FTPC makes recommendations to Provost • Candidate notified of recommendation • Provost discusses recommendations with deans • Tenure decisions: President • Promotion decisions: Provost • Appeals

  9. Appeals • FTPC not involved • Standing Appeals Committee • G. O. 4 describes grounds for appeals

  10. Portfolios • Period of review • Electronic or hardcopy • Teaching, scholarship, service • Scholarship • Types of publications clearly indicated • Supporting documents
