  1. Универсальные Интернет-Коммуникации  как основа для продвижения медийных  сервисов Voice ~ E-mail ~ Collaboration ~ IM ~Mobility

Cable Telecom Internet Services Portals

  5. Dynamic Cluster with SIP Farm • Email traffic can be separated from SIP Farm • Consolidated Identity management but Frontends are “specialized” • Protects voice QOS even in event of DDoS or spam

  6. From Server to Client • XML Interface to Messaging, Scheduling and Signaling (XIMSS) protocol • Reach-Media Client Application Technology: • Flash/Flex • AJAX • Brings all core services into one rich UI with benefits of • Speed • Scale • Security • Flexibility • Centralized storage

  20. Technical Details

  21. Architectural Solution – Dynamic Cluster • Single-address for email, VoIP, and collaboration • Accessible from multiple devices • IMS-ready converged platform • Clustered for scalability and performance • SPECmail world-record holder for messaging • SIP Farm for clustered voice applications and presence • True 99.999% uptime

  22. Architectural Solution – E-mail & VoIP • The 4+2 SIP Farm Dynamic Cluster is the core unit for virtually endless growth • Separation of E-mail and Real-Time functions at the Frontend • Protects QOS and low-latency for real-time communications • “Just Add Nodes” for growth

  23. Stability and Scalability • CommuniGate Pro requires no RDBM/SQL databases, which are the greatest cause of downtime in other messaging systems. • The Communigate Dynamic Cluster architecture runs in an active/active redundancy configuration giving Cincinnati Bell the ability to meet or exceed 99.999% availability requirements. • This multi-level, multi-server design allows the system to survive failure of any member, providing access for all accounts as long as at least one Frontend and one Backend server survive. Even the loss of the Cluster Controller is recovered by the Backup Controller. • The Dynamic Cluster architecture provides both performance and stability by removing the inefficiencies associated with file access systems such as NAS or SAN. • “Rolling Upgrades” allows the IT team to gracefully remove any node from the Cluster, upgrade the hardware or software, then add the node back into the Cluster. Once successful, repeat. • CommuniGate Pro is a highly threaded, unified application which is not broken into components and connected via proxies and scripts – the application shares memory space between all services. The Cluster should always remain live. Our goal is 100% availability.

  24. All-Active Dynamic Clustering CommuniGate Pro Frontend Servers • All connections from the Internet/public network are directed to the Frontends. • Frontend servers provide most communications protocols to the users – SMTP, IMAP, POP, HTTP (WebMail and Personal File Storage), SIP, XMPP (Jabber), Presence, and many others. • Frontends have no direct (file system) access to domain and account data – all authentication and data access is directed from the Frontends to the Backend Servers. • Frontends generally run SMTP content-scanning plugins, such as those for Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Archiving, and others. Frontends also perform connection limiting via “flow control” functions to protect Quality of Service and defend against Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. • Frontends perform SSL encryption and decryption, as well as provide a security perimeter to protect the Backends. Frontend servers do not have disk-level access to the account and domain data and meta-data. CommuniGate Pro Backend Servers • Backend servers attach to the storage subsystem through NFS (over NAS) or Cluster File System (over SAN). • Backend servers handle Cluster Controller and Backup Controller functions. • Backend server perform authentication, message and file access (storage and retrieval), as well as clustered data functions such as Presence and Buddy Lists.

  25. “Just Add Nodes” for Growth • Add more of any node type, as needed • Grow with revenue • Defer costs and upgrade hardware over time

  26. EdgeGate Control for Security • Security is Built-in to CommuniGate Pro – one solution • Protects E-mail integrity against spam, virus, and malware • Protects Real-Time/Voice QOS • Includes SBC, NAT traversal, and secure relaying functions

  27. The CommuniGate Pro Application Platform • The CommuniGate Pro Server software uses an object-oriented data model. • The same objects are used for CommuniGate Pro applications and APIs. • All APIs are published for open development and customization – third-parties are welcome to develop and sell add-ons for CommuniGate Pro. • Many CommuniGate Pro components can be customized or extended using various types of programming techniques. • These can be used to interact with or between the protocols supported in the platform form voice, email, IM, as well as others. • WebSkins and PBX apps are provided as open source.
