  2. ‘The One and Only’ – John 1:15 The Word became flesh. • The Word – Jesus • ‘Became’ – still God but also became a man. • ‘Flesh’ – a real man

  3. ‘The One and Only’ – John 1:15 ‘Made his dwelling among us’ • Dwelling = ‘pitched his tent’ • Cp Exodus 25 ‘Make a ‘sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them’

  4. ‘Make this sanctuary and all it’s furnishing EXACTLY like the pattern I will show you.’ Exodus25:8.

  5. ‘The One and Only’ – John 1:15 ‘Made his dwelling among us’ – • Dwelling = ‘pitched his tent’ • Cp Exodus 25 • Make a ‘sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them’ • ‘Exactly to the pattern’ Why so important? • Because this tent was a picture of Jesus

  6. ‘And so Moses finished the work. Then the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle’. Exodus 40:33

  8. ‘What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory’ John 2:11

What are they? • Grace - free unmerited favour • Truth – faithful & right. • These two expressions connect Jesus directly with God himself in the OT; Exodus 33:19

  12. ‘I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you … . I will have mercy on whom I have mercy and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion’ Exodus 33 v19.

  13. ‘The One and Only’ – John 1:15 ‘We have seen his glory’ • What is the glory of Jesus? • His miracles • His death • Full of grace and truth. • What are they? • Grace - free unmerited favour • Truth – faithful & right. • These two expressions connect Jesus directly with God himself in the OT.

  14. ‘The One and Only’ – John 1:15 Summary • Jesus the man was also God – the staggering truth about him • Jesus is the teacher of teachers, leader of the leaders • Jesus is full of grace/mercy & faithfulness.
