  2. The Family • Born April 17, 1837 in Hartford, Connecticut • Parents were Juniet Spencer Morgan and Juliet (Pierpont) Morgan • Father was involved in George Peabody & Company • Parents were middle to upper class

  3. Education • Minor education was from an English school in Boston • Went to University of Gottingen in Germany

  4. Beginning of a LongCareer • Got a job for private banking house Duncan Sherman & Company • Became agent and attorney for George Peabody and Company • After civil war Morgan bought out bankrupt business's and railroads • J.P. Morgan made J.P. Morgan & Company in 1895

  5. Big Business Deals • J.P. Morgan personally bought 200 million in government bonds • Bought steel mills from Andrew Carnegie • Formed U.S. steel corporation in 1901 worth about 1.2 billion dollars

  6. Legacy Left Behind • Died March 31, 1913 in Rome, Italy • Was 76 years old • Left 80 million dollars • Controlled billions is assets
