PHILIPPINES MISSION TRIP June 23-July 15, 2008. WHAT A TRIP!. This was a trip in which young people played a central role Here Laurie Walker, Montgomery, AL and Julia Petty, Tullahoma, TN are with students and staff from Philippine Theological College on the recent mission trip.

WHAT A TRIP! • This was a trip in which young people played a central role • Here Laurie Walker, Montgomery, AL and Julia Petty, Tullahoma, TN are with students and staff from Philippine Theological College on the recent mission trip.
Great Results on a challenging trip • Over 2000 children and young people were taught in Bible classes on this trip. This is the first night’s children’s Bible class for the Salumongaue Sur church of Christ on the PTC Campus. There were 113 children in attendance with a total crowd of 174!
Two months before the trip we were devastated • Typhoon Cosme wreaked havoc in the area • Destroying the chapel we had just build less than a year ago on the Dagupan City Jail roof
The Campus was heavily damaged • Over 70 mature fruit trees were destroyed in the “typhoon of a lifetime”
The Damage was widespread and devastating • A great number of our members, their families and our neighbors lost homes in the storm
On Campus, both our buildings were damaged. • The Administration/Church Building suffered a good bit of water and slight damage like broken windows. • The Boy’s dorm had the roof ripped off • Both buildings have since been restored and are occupied.
What This Means • Now both buildings are repaired, occupied and operational! A great amount of “sweat equity” has gone into the campus by the students and staff.
As soon as the typhoon had stopped blowing • Our staff and students were repairing their own homes and
Began helping others • Hundreds of kilos of rice were given away in the days immediately following Cosme as well as tin for roofs and nipa to help rebuild homes.
But our purpose is not primarily to provide just food and shelter….. • But it is to teach the gospel! • Here is our first convert at the new congregation that meets on our new campus. • He is a former barangy captain-which is the equivalent of a city councilman and he has great influence in our new community. • He is already a great personal worker for the Lord!
70 souls were added to the Lord’s Kingdom during this campaign! • This first year school teacher was converted and baptized in the Gulf of Lingayen, where McArthur liberated the Philippines from the Japanese, this young soul was liberated from Satan’s occupation and dominance!
God blessed this work far beyond our expectations or prayers • Here a young man who had been studying through the Bible Correspondence Course and was baptized after a personal home study. He is here with Don Walker and Alma Paisio, who directed our BCC program for many years.
A new congregation continues to grow! • Carl Walker takes the good confession from a young couple who will worship at the Salamounge Sur church of Christ on the new PTC campus.
Not only were 70 souls buried with Jesus Christ • But 61 adults jammed in to our not yet even completed church building on Sunday, July 6, 2008 for the first service of the Salamounge Sur church of Christ!
But did the children ever come too! • We thought we had prepared for the children’s Bible classes with 3 American ladies, Martha and Laurie Walker and Julia Petty and 2 Filipino ladies.
174 total folks present at the first service of the Salamounge Sur church of Christ.
At school after school, the girls were welcomed and taught Bible Classes—at the school’s invitation!
Now we even are moving toward providing food for our staff and students with four acres of rice
We recently purchased 4 goats and a cow and plow • The goats are helping to clean up the overgrown parts of the campus. • They will provide milk and in several months-- meat as well.
Here is where Julia, the cow will work! • On the back of the campus is just over 4 acres that is planted in rice and nearly an acre that has a vegetable garden with corn, okra, eggplant, squash, cucumbers and several types of melons. • We purchased a Brahma cow who will pull the plow in the rice and vegetable fields for many years! • They will be harvested twice a year and will provide a great deal of the food for our students and staff.
We are so thrilled by the progress of the last 4 years • Over 1500 baptisms since 2004 • 29 Congregations established • Philippine Theological College founded and now operating on our own PAID OFF property • Purchased three new vans for evangelism for almost $80,000 US • Currently 7 young men training to preach full time-at least 4 more coming in October..
Our needs now for your help • $300,000 to build a new dorm/classroom building men to house 50 young men to train to preach. • $7500 to purchase 3 motorcycles with sidecars • $400 per month for each of the four or more new students enrolling in October • $6500 in Don’s travel expenses for 2008
Over 1 Billion Souls in China • Most of these people have never heard the story of Jesus • The recent Olympics cracked open the door and the improving Chinese economy is making the possibility of the freedom of religion coming to China rapidly improving. • We must be ready.
We have great responsibilities • There are countless souls in the Philippines and China and all over the world who are counting on us • And watching us to know what to do. • What are we going to do? • It is much easier for a Filipino (an Asian) to operate in China than it is an American. • We have great opportunities.
What will he become? • He’s waiting for me and you • “You preach more?” • Is this a future preacher,elder, deacon, song leader or Christian leader.
