    1. 2007 Tech Prep Regional Conference THECB Carl Perkins and Rising 11th and 12th Grade 2007 Dual Summer Bridge Program November 27, 2007

    2. Summary of Project Provided 399 lower Rio Grande Valley students from 17 high schools a summer bridge program composed of 3 learning community courses (7 credits) supplemented by tutoring, mentoring and college survival skills workshops

    3. Overall Project Goals Strengthen partnerships between UTB/TSC and South Texas school districts and high schools Develop students academic and college success skills and prepare them for higher level course competencies Increase student connections and engagement to the college environment

Measurable Project Objectives Participants earned 7 college credits 97% of students were retained all five (5) weeks 85% of participants passed all their summer bridge classes with a 2.0 or better (overall average GPA was 3.4) 90% of participants and families reported increased understanding of the college enrollment process/college experience 90% of participants reported they established personal relationships with UTB/TSC faculty, staff and regular students

Measurable Project Objectives 90% of participants reported increased motivation, study, time and stress management skills at the end of the summer bridge experience 90% of participants reported an increased understanding of career and technology skills 80% of participants reported they identified a field of study, program or career for college 90% of participants committed to continue in concurrent/dual enrollment in the 08-09 year 100% of participants received 8 year degree plans 85% of participants stated significant improvement in overall preparation for college success
