We aim to promote commercial exchange between Chile and Euskadi and foster relationships between our members and similar associations worldwide.   1. WHO ARE WE? The Association of Businessmen with Basque Origins, EMPREBASK, is a non profit making organisation made up of businesses, executives and freelance professionals who are all Basque or have Basque origins. It was created to respond to the concerns of a group of Basque-Chilean businessmen who were interested in strengthening their relations both in the Basque business world and with other Chilean businessmen with Basque origins who share the same objectives.

  2. OBJECTIVES • Promote commercial exchange between Chile and Euskadi. • Forge relationships between associates and with similar associations in other parts of the world when possible, creating a network of business contacts.

Other Actions carried out • Inauguration in the company of Iñaki Aguirre. • Private breakfast with the Lehendakari, Juan José Ibarretxe • Attracting a significant number of partners. • Accreditation of partners through personalised cards giving them access to a Emprebask benefits club. • Alliance agreement to obtain other exclusive discounts in Hotel Ritz Carlton, Club Balthus, Diario Financiero, Capital magazine, among others. • Permanent update of the website www.emprebask.cl • Basic financing structure charging annual membership quotas to partners. • Comparative study on actions carried out by other foreign Chambers of Commerce. • Agreement reached with the BBVA for EMPREBASK partners to access seminars on specialised topics given by experts, free of charge. (March 2007) • Agreement with Catalan Business Association to run joint activities. April 2007)

Other Actions carried out • Approaches made to Chambers of Commerce and foreign Delegations in Chile to work together. • Agreement signed with Universidad de Deusto to offer work experience to professionals from the MBA course they are giving. • Receiving different public and private authorities from the Basque Country during their visits to the Chile. • Meetings with personalities, organised jointly with the Basque Country Delegation in Chile, including a private dinner with the Minister for Work and Social Provision, Sr. Osvaldo Andrade Lara and three meetings with other public personalities in this country. • Coordination of trade contacts through the SPRI representative with companies in the Basque Country who have required meetings with local companies belonging to EMPREBASK. • Search for regional representatives to attract new partners. • Communication and integration of the partners by means of permanently sending information through client loyalty software. • Appearances in the written press and in a report on a national TV channel’s main news show. • An in-depth look and assessment of the incipient creation of the Asturias Business Association.

New Actions • Support development of EMPREBASK in other countries such as Mexico or Venezuela to strengthen business exchange between Basques in different parts of the world and create a worldwide network of businessmen with Basque origins • Integrating businessmen with Basque origins in regions (in progress) • Run quarterly meetings with useful public personalities for EMPREBASK. • Strengthen exchange and relations with Business Associations and Institutions in the Basque Country. • Specify the creation of an OTIC for EMPREBASK partners. Organism which channels subsidies awarded by the government to improve skills among their employees (up to 1% annual turnover) • Give support and cover to business associations in the Basque Country who are interested in Chile.
