Raising Participation Team (14-19) Our statutory duty is to secure sufficient suitable education and training opportunities to meet the reasonable needs of all young people in their area i.e. those who are:- • over compulsory school leaving age, but under 19 • subject to a learning difficulty assessment (to age 25) • subject to youth detention.

  3. Raising of the Participation Age Commitment to raising the participation age to 17 in 2013 and to 18 by 2015. Could be:- • full-time education, such as school or college • work-based learning, such as an Apprenticeship • part-time education or training if they are employed, self-employed or volunteering for more than 20 hours a week.

  4. Music and Performing Arts Service • A ring-fenced grant of £440,000 has made available to Salford for 2011/12 to support this area as an outcome of the Henley Review. • Through this service high quality music and performing arts provision is accessible to all of our young people.

  5. Lledr Hall • Lledr Hall provides a High Quality Outdoor Education Service to the city of Salford: it's schools and communities. • This service area will take a budget reduction of £60,000 from £175,000 to £115,000 and these savings will be made by increased fees to schools and parents.

  6. Family, Adult and Community Learning • The team reaches the most excluded communities in Salford with the lowest levels of formal qualifications. • Engaging and accessible courses help adults not only to gain skills and qualifications but to build their confidence and raise individual and community aspirations.

  7. Salford Skills Provision • Salford Skills Centre offers Intermediate Apprenticeships (Level 2) and Advanced Level Apprenticeship frameworks (Level 3) in the following areas: Vehicle Maintenance; Health & Social Care; Hospitality & Catering and Children and Young People’s Workforce • Following a procurement process Salford City College has been awarded the contract to be a managing agent for the delivery of apprenticeships.

  8. Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS) • Ring fenced funding for this service comes from Dedicated Schools Grant. • The key outcomes of this service are to improve the engagement and achievement of these vulnerable groups of pupils.

  9. School to School Support – Schools’ Provider Arm (Secondary) • A core group of outstanding schools with significant experience and track record for successful school to school support (St Patrick’s RC/St Ambrose RC/All Hallows RC/Oakwood/ The Swinton High School) • Clear coordination role by St Patrick’s RC High School in ensuring that school to school support is both effective, timely and well coordinated in improving outcomes for children and young people • Taps in to the very best areas of practice from across the city in terms of outstanding secondary provision.

  10. Commissioning • For schools below all three floor standards ie 35% 5A*-C including English and mathematics and the progression measures for English and maths • For vulnerable schools Those schools with a declining trends over three years Those schools with significant financial deficits (spending on school improvement may be compromised) Those schools with identified Governance and/or Human resources issues that impact on the outcomes for children and young people • For vulnerable groups
