Meeting organisation ● GODAE-IMBER meeting (2 - day meeting, CNRS, Paris, June 2007) - Organisation in collaboration with Patrick Monfray, Adrian Hines and the University of Brest (Admin support) - 6 GODAE and 6 IMBER representatives (by invitation) - Funding for meeting came from CNRS - New working group as been formed - Meeting minutes, presentations and preliminary outcomes are available on GODAE website (http://www.godae.org/GODAE-IMBER-only.html) - Agenda item 8.3 ●GODAE Coastal and Shelf Seas workshop (2 - day workshop, POL, Liverpool, October 2007) - Organisation in collaboration with Pierre De Mey and Roger Proctor (POL) - Coastal workshop website available (Third announcement + registration now open - http://cobs.pol.ac.uk/cobs/CSSWG/) - Over 40 participants (by invitation) - Abstracts confirmed (available on workshop website) - Funding will come mainly from participants (£75 workshop fee has been requested) - Agenda item 8.2

Meeting organisation continued ● OOPC-GODAE meeting on OSSE/OSE (5-7 November 2007, Paris) - Organisation in collaboration with Pierre-Yves Le Traon and Albert Fischer - presently 26 participants (by invitation) - Discussion – Agenda item 8.1 ●SCS-IO meeting (TBC) - meeting was scheduled for beginning of June but has now been postponed - no new date proposed - Will be discussed under agenda item 4. ●IGST - organisation in collaboration with Fraser Davidson !!! ●Final Symposium - Discussion – Agenda item 7. and 17. (revisit) ●Summer School - Discussion – Agenda item 12.

Funding ● Transfer of funds from BMRC • All funds have now been transferred from Melbourne to the Met Office  £143,451.85 (€214,034.16) • A new budget has been set up ● Support from Patrons/funding bodies • EUMETSAT contribution received Dec 2006  £13,400 (€20,000) • NOAA (Stan Wilson) contributions to be transferred via IOC  expected funds £28,700 ($59,000) • Further funding expected from CNES (Eric Thouvenot), EUMETSAT (Francois Parisot), Met Office (Mike Bell) • Encouraging new patrons to join the Patron’s group (tbc) ● Financial situation and sponsorship • Currently healthy, but more funds needed to cover period until the end of GODAE (Dec 08) • Major events (Final Symposium & Summer school) can not be funded by the GODAE project office, but will need direct fund raising  More information Item 7. & 12. on agenda

  25. Action – list review (not agenda items) -1 • Action 3:JZ to seek volunteers to host Indian Ocean & SCS workshop. Gan (Hong Kong Uni) and Wang (SCSIO) are possibilities. Feedback to KWB with copy to PDM. • Workshop postponed • no new date proposed • Action 6:Data-sets already gathered for long-period analysis. Some coordination of these for use by GODAE groups would be beneficial. GPO to make list of relevant data-sets available on GODAE website.

  26. Action – list review (not agenda items) -2 • Action 8: Implementation of poor-mans' ensembles in GHRSST (CD). Hines to consider poor mans' ensembles for 3D forecasts for North Atlantic. • Action 9:Statement of GODAE requirements for a project to coordinate integration of surface current observations: FH to lead • Action 19:MK to revise North Pacific Metric document by end of November • Input from Masa • Action 44: MB to contact David Anderson to ask what coordination exists for demonstration of impact of observations on seasonal forecasting. If it is not adequate investigate whether David is prepared to play coordinating role.
