  1. Freedom of the Press

  2. Freedom of expression is the right to express oneself freely in speech or writing without violating any existing laws.

  3. Freedom of the press establishes the right , working within the law, to gather and transmit information, ideas and opinions freely, without the government or any organisation influencing what is broadcast or published.

  4. It is illegal to print, publish or broadcast any statements about an individual that are known to be untrue, with the intention of damaging the reputation of that person. This is known as libel.

  5. It is illegal to speak any untrue statements about an individual with a view to damaging his or her reputation. This is known as slander.
