  2. First, you’ll need to purchase a High Definition Television set. Today's HDTV sets come in two forms… . HD-readysets have the HDTV receiver/decoder built-in and require an outside UHF antenna or “rabbit ears” to pick up our signal. abc12 HDTV can be found on Channel 36 using this method. HD-capable sets require the addition of an external receiver/decoder needed to receive digital broadcasts.  In an HD-capable set, the TV is essentially a monitor.  You buy the receiver separately.  . To view abc12 HDTV through your cable provider, you will need to purchase an HD-capable set, then acquire a digital terminal or decoder from your cable provider. On Comcast Digital Cable, abc12 HDTV can be found on Channel 180. What are the Benefits? How Can I Watch abc12 in HDTV? What is HDTV? . Color:  HDTV provides vivid color, including a wide range of hues (such as subtle purples and reds) without any bleeding at the edges of the image. Clarity/Detail:  HDTV images are as detailed as a high-resolution photograph.  It is like looking through a window. When watching a TV program in HD, you will be amazed at the sharpness of the picture.  You can even pick up the specks of different colors in an actor’s eyes, or see individual sweat drops on a football player. These are details you could never see through regular television. Wide-screen:  HDTV allows you to view content in a 16:9 wide-screen format, the same format used in movie theaters.  Current TV’s use a 4:3 image, which cuts pictures off because it forces a wide image into a narrow space. Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound:  All HDTV programming can provide 5.1 channel Dolby Digital Surround Sound--just like true theater sound. High Definition Television is the largest technological break- through in television since the advent of color TV. HDTV allows the viewer to watch TV with superior video and sound quality when compared to the sound and video quality of regular TV sets. HDTV has been getting media attention for several years now because of its life-like pictures and digital sound. HDTV’s higher resolution and wider screen display produces unmatched picture clarity. The HDTV sets are more like looking at a movie screen than a TV set. Most electronic stores have a fairly good selection of HDTV sets and knowledgeable sales associates to explain the features and benefits offered by the many different HDTV manufactures. If you haven’t seen the sharper and wider HDTV display with Dolby Digital Surround Sound, then prepare yourself for an enhanced home theater experience. . . .
