  2. artsScene in Ottawa-Gatineau Our Mission To engage new generations, young professionals and businesses as patrons and volunteers to support arts and culture in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. • Goals: • Introduce • Connect • Engage • Inspire and build bridges • Network • Recognize • Part of Bfta, a not-for-profit • Launched in January 2010 • Local, active volunteer Executive Committee • 250+ followers on Facebook, Twitter and e-mail • Key partners networks (OSSC, NCRYPN, OSA, YPIF) • No firm definition of art and culture • Unique events that engage new generations!

  9. A Team Renewal & Change of Leadership • Out of 12 executive members, 8 were stepping down. • 4 people who had assumed leadership roles (co-chairs or vice-chair) were stepping down. • Among those who were staying, I was designated as Chair.

  10. A Refocusing of the Roles Before: Volunteers were confused about their role and the limits of their responsibilities Now: Back to the core functions, volunteers work in teams of 2

  11. An Opportunity to Seize… • …and to Recruit 8 Talented New Executive Members from Various Backgrounds • Objective 1: Motivated and Competent Volunteers • Objective 2: Occupational Diversity (public, private, non-for-profit & academic sectors)

Results of the Selection Process (over 3 months) 18 Candidates 12 Candidates interviewed 8 Candidates selected (1 public sector; 2 private sector; 2 academic sector; 3 non-for-profit sector) Before: 12 executives members = 12 Canadian Citizens Now: 12 executive members = 10 Canadian citizens + 2 non-Canadians

Different Ways to Volunteer Executive Committee Members • 12 voluneers running the day-to-day operations and organizing Signature events Working Group Members • Executive Committee Members will lead working groups to develop strategic plans (Com. & Mark./Volunteer Manag./etc) and calendar/type of activities Event Volunteers • boardLink, Embassy Experience, etc. boardLink Participants • possibility to join other arts organizations volunteer boards or committees
