  5. How does the Funeral Service reflect Christian beliefs in Life after Death? This shows Christians believe there is a life after death with God, and they pray that the deceased will enter it. This shows that the person who has died will rise to life again as part of Jesus’ death and resurrection, which is what the Mass celebrates. • Which of the beliefs about life after death do the stages reflect? • The Eulogy • The Sacrifice of the Mass • The Bidding prayers • The Final Absolution • The burial and committal • The wake This shows that the Christian community thanks God for the life of this person, and celebrates it as His gift to them. This shows that the person needs to have their sins forgiven before they can receive eternal life. This gives people a chance to express their feelings and share their memories of the deceased. **Why do you think the Catholic Church discourages cremation? Think of more than one reason.
