  3. All about Hydra • Hydra are fresh water jellyfish. • In the Great Plains several species of hydra have been recorded. • Hydra are most common of these and are widespread in clean waters throughout North America.

Habitat and Foods • Habitat-In the Great Plains several species of hydra have been recorded. • Hydra are most common of these and are widespread in clean waters throughout North America.  • Food-To be eaten prey are paralyzed • They paralyze by neurotoxins released from tiny stinging organelles.

  5. Life stages of the Hydra. • This is a budding hydra. The things like arms are the baby hydra. Soon after that they part off and become there own.

  7. About Leeches • Leeches are like blood-sucking worms. • They have two different ways to suck blood. • One they use a proboscis to puncture your skin • Or two they use their three jaws and millions of little teeth.

  8. Habitat and Foods • Leeches live just about anywhere in slow water. • Algae is also there food besides drinking peoples blood • They detect skin oils, blood, heat, or even the carbon dioxide you breathe out to find you in the water.

They aren’t always bad • Doctors can also turn to leeches for help. • Doctors use leeches to help restore blood circulation to grafted tissue and reattached fingers and toes. “For example: micro surgeons in a Boston hospital used leeches to save the ear of a 5 year old boy that had been bitten off by a dog.”
