  2. COURSE CURRICULUM This course mainly entails the examining of shifts in world power. It chronicles the rise of democratic capitalism and its global interaction with other types of governments. The time period explored ranges from the invention of Gutenburg’s printing press in 1455 to the Day the Towers Fell in 2001.

  4. GRADING POLICY • One can EARN a good grade by completing all preparation tasks, homework assignments, quizzes, tests, essays or projects ON TIME AND WITH ACCURACY… • TOTAL POINTS SYSTEM: Each assignment is assigned a particular worth. At the end of the marking period the student grade is calculated by dividing the total points the student EARNED by the total amount of points possibly earned, then multiplying by 100.

  5. CLASS EXPECTATIONS THE STUDENTS ESTABLISHED WE WOULD ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING CODE OF CONDUCT: • Show respect for the teacher, fellow students and yourself at all times, doing everything for the right purpose, to achieve knowledge… • Only one person should speak at a time so that we may impart knowledge to others in an orderly environment… • One shall not curse or use inappropriate speech that harasses, demeans, or slanders others… • Attend the room PREPARED (covered textbook, BINDER, pen, highlighter, etc.) AND ON TIME.

  6. HOMEWORK • There is an assignment almost every night. • We read, write, discuss, and learn about main ideas and events from 1455-2001. • These are the most frequent type of assignment. • Therefore, it has great bearing on the overall marking period grade. It is difficult for them to discuss the topic the next day if they did not read the night before. • PLEASE make sure they do their homework.

  7. ASSESSMENTS • These include quizzes, tests, essays, and projects. • There is usually an after school extra help session that takes place the day before a test is administered.

  8. 7 STEPS TO SUCCESS • READ THE CHAPTER USING A DICTIONARY • HAND IN THE ASSIGNED QUESTIONS (HW) • TAKE NOTES DURING CLASS DISCUSSIONS • READ IT AGAIN, OUTLINE IT, DEFINE BOLD FACE & ITALICIZED VOCABULARY TERMS • COMPARE/ FIND SIMILARITIES & DIFFERENCES BETWEEN DISCUSSION NOTES AND TEXTBOOK/READINGS • DO REVIEW POWERPOINT PACKET • STUDY THE HW, OUTLINE, DISCUSSION NOTES, AND REVIEW POWERPOINT REVIEW PACKET THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE UNIT!!!
