The State Primary Care Grants Program, administered by the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health, provides funding to public and non-profit entities that offer primary care services to medically underserved populations. With an appropriation of $1.6 million, the program has awarded grants since FY 2005, totaling $6.4 million. Currently, the program supports 56 awards—28 urban and 28 rural—serving over 25,000 individuals. Grants cannot replace government insurance such as Medicaid or Medicare.
