3. Mr.Kotz was in the Vietnam War as a Marine and was in the infantry. He explained things like the Marine boot camp and “the Crucible”, or the three day “final” at the end of training. It involved sleep and food deprivation, as well as major physical strain. One of the main things that stood out to me was the attack on a hill that was about to be over run. He had 100 men and needed 44 volunteers, and all 100 marines offered to go to help back up their fellow Marines. Me also had several quotes that he told us like TIN STAFL (There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch), and Preparation + Opportunity = Success. He also taught us the way he prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually for combat in the Marines. He also reached the rank of Captain in 2 years. He served in the Marines from 1968-1969.
