First, Why MiSiS?(My Integrated Student Information System) • MiSiS enables schools to monitor and assess the progress of all students as they move through their K-12 educational career: • Attendance • Academic Marks • Transcript Records • Interventions • Educational data follow students from year to year and school to school automatically • MiSiS brings the LAUSD data system into the 21st Century Internet age!

MiSiS GradebookAdvantages • One stop shopping: All student academic information in one place! • Academic marks follow students when they change schools or classes • Teachers, counselors and administrators can monitor student progress through the same platform • Teachers can access and update student marks from anywhere…school, home, desktop computer or mobile device (tablet or phone)

  5. MiSiS GradebookAdvantages Parent access: Parents can follow their children’s progress in school! Other records: Parent contacts, notes to parents, course syllabus all right there in the Gradebook!

MiSiS GradebookGuidelines • The LAUSD Roll Book: • Is a legal document • Consists of both electronic data (MiSiS Gradebook) and paper documents • The electronic component of the official roll book for LAUSD is the MiSiS Gradebook: • No other gradebook, electronic or otherwise, may be used for recording grades

MiSiS GradebookGuidelines - Elementary • Teachers must evidence a minimum of one academic mark per week in each of the following three content areas: • CCSS English Language Arts (reading: literature/informational, writing, listening/speaking or language) • English Language Development (reading, writing, listening, speaking) when appropriate • CCSS Mathematics (content and math practices) • MiSiS Gradebook use for other content areas is encouraged!

  9. MiSiS GradebookGuidelines - Secondary Teachers must evidence a minimum of one assignment per week per class period into the gradebook Teachers must evidence a minimum of one academic mark per class period per week

To think about… • Who are your computer wizzes? • Who is currently using an electronic gradebook? • Who is challenged by computer and Internet and may need additional resources to catch up? • How do I organize my staff so they can help and support one another? • When does this happen?
