Preparing for the GCSE Exams. What is Revision?. Revision is another word for reviewing. This means: consolidating your understanding of the subjects; practising the skills you have learned; refreshing your memory of the topics you have covered; memorising the facts that you need.

  1. Preparing for theGCSE Exams

  2. What is Revision? Revision is another word for reviewing. This means: • consolidating your understanding of the subjects; • practising the skills you have learned; • refreshing your memory of the topics you have covered; • memorising the facts that you need.

  3. What is Revision? To motivate yourself to revise, you must believe that: • exams do matter, • the results do matter, revision does matter!

  4. What is available to help me revise? 1) Your textbook and notes. • Go through your notes and your textbook and attempt examples you have done before or make notes. • You will know from your ‘mock’ exam which topics need more revision.

  5. What is available to help me revise? 2) Revision guides, workbooks and papers. • You may have had the opportunity to buy revision guides in lessons and they are very accessible. If you have not yet ordered your copies, you can do so this evening.

  6. What is available to help me revise? 3) The internet. There are many good revision sites on the Internet that are very useful, including the BBC site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ gcsebitesize/

  7. What is available to help me revise? 4) The library. There are copies of revision materials available in the library as well as bitesize revision videos that you can watch in school or record yourself

  8. What is available to help me revise? • Revision Sessions Check your revision book for details of revision sessions. The library is open until 4:30pm every day.

  9. What is available to help me revise? 6) Your Teacher Most importantly, make sure that if you are unsure in a topic area, ask your teacher for help!

  10. Revision Hints Handling Stress Start preparing for exams early. Take break from revising, exercise regularly, eat and sleep well. Remind yourself it will all be over in a couple of months.
