  1. Producers, Consumers, and Decomposers

  2. Consumers Organisms that get their energy and nutrients by consuming other animals and plants. Examples: lions, human, rats, elephants, etc. 3 Types of Consumers: 1.) Herbivore 2.) Carnivore 3.) Omnivore

  3. Herbivore • Consume: producers (plants) ONLY!!

  4. Carnivore Consumes: consumers (animals) ONLY!!!

  5. Omnivore Consumes: BOTH producers (plants) and consumers (animals).

  6. Scavengers Organisms that feeds on dead animals.

  7. Producer • Organisms that produce complex substance such as glucose and starches. This process of turning energy from the sun into food is called photosynthesis. • EXAMPLE:Any plant!!

  8. O- CO2 Cycle Through photosynthesis Plants take in CO2 To make food and release oxygen (O) Through respiration Animals take in oxygen (O) And release CO2

  9. Decomposers • Organisms that change waste and dead organic material into substances that producers can use.

  10. Rules for Producer, Consumer, and Decomposer Tag (PCD Tag) • If you are tagged, you go the decomposition area and have to wait 10 seconds before coming back into the game.

  11. Food Chain • Place the following organisms in their proper place: Microorganisms Nutrients Rabbit Bear Grasses
