  5. Who are SAS surgeons? Very large group: There are nearly half as many SAS grades doctors and doctors working on temporary or short term contracts as there are consultants in acute Trusts.   9. Appraisal & Revalidation All doctors should be appraised • Many SAS surgeons are not • Very few non-standard grades are • Even fewer have opportunity for appraisal by another SAS doctor Guidance and support specifically for SAS is available on website
