In Mrs. Horan's World Language Exploratory course, sixth graders rotate through six enriching classes over two marking periods: French, Spanish, German, Latin, Cultural/Guidance, and Information Literacy. Each rotation lasts 15 days. In Information Literacy, students will explore the RMS Library, learn library policies, and master the research process including brainstorming, locating, evaluating, and citing resources. Students are expected to come prepared, be respectful, and actively participate. Daily routines include attendance, agenda review, class work, and Sustained Silent Reading.

What is World Language Exploratory? • Each six grader rotates through the six World Language Exploratory Classes (French, Spanish, German, Latin, Cultural/Guidance, and Information Literacy) over the course of two marking periods. • Each “rotation” lasts approximately 15 days. • The other two marking periods are split between FACS and Tech Ed.
What is Information Literacy? • First you will learn all about the RMS Library – where things are located, when/how to visit the library, library policies and procedures. • You will learn about the research process from start to finish. • You will practice brainstorming, locating resources, note-taking, evaluating resources and citing resources. • You will learn how to choose books, for research and independent reading.
