  5. LAKER FOOTBALL Program Goals Have Fun and to provide a great high school experience that players will remember for the rest of there lives. Have Each Player take something from our program that that will help them later in life. To instill positive-growth characteristic into our players to be successful on the field and off High Standards in everything we do - To be the best we can be and Compete at all times Type of Attitude Master the skills necessary to be a Champion in EVERYTHING we do. Day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year.

LAKER FOOTBALL Grade Level Philosophy 9th Grade (A, B Teams) Players will practice both offensive and defensive positions and we want to get our players as much playing time and opportunity in games, assuming players are at practice each and every day working hard. 10th Grade(Added 10B Games) By the end of the season, players should have an idea of the techniques for their position as well as the physical requirements necessary for playing at the varsity level Junior Varsity Our JV philosophy is developing all players (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores) and to expose them to a higher level of competition. Varsity We expect to put the most competitive team we can on the field each week and every Varsity game. Players that continue to prove their ability’s as the starter, will get the most playing time. We believe all players will play a vital role in our success ***Bottom Line is We Expect All Levels to be Highly Competitive***

LAKER FOOTBALL Game Schedules 9th Grade - A Team – Friday 3:30 (Follow Varsity Home and Away Schedule) - B Team – Tuesday – 4:00 (Opposite Varsity Home and Away Schedule) 10th Grade - A Team – Thursday 4:00 (Follow Varsity Home and Away Schedule) - B Team – Four Fridays 3:30 Junior Varsity - Saturdays Mornings Varsity – Friday Nights 7:00 ***Complete Schedule located on the High School Website***

Varsity • - Practice #1 - Meetings 7:30, Practice 8:00 to 10:00 • 2. 9th/10th Grade • - Practice #1 - Practice 8:00 to 10:00 • Week Two – Fri • All Levels • – 9:00 to 11:00 • *Picture Change – Tues, August 26th – 2:00 – 3:00 • Week One • 1. Varsity • - Practice #1 - Meetings 7:30, Practice 8:00 to 10:00 • - Practice #2 – Meetings 10:30, Practice 11:15 – 1:15 • 2. 9th/10th Grade • Practice #1 - Practice 8:00 to 10:00 • Practice #2 –Practice 11:00 to 1:00 • Week Two – Mon/Tues/Wed • 1.   9. LAKER FOOTBALL • Practice Expectations • 1. We expect that players will make every effort to be in attendance at EVERY Practice. • 2. If you are going to be late or miss practice for any reason, you need to let your POSITION COACH or Grade Level Coach know BEFORE practice. • 3. Late or Missing Practices/Lifting/Meetings -Unexcused = Consequences • 4. Players receiving ISS or Detention are considered Unexcused Absences and will NOT be allowed to participate in practice that day • Players MUST attend school to practice or play in a game. • Player seeing a Doctor for Anything – must have a note clearing them.

  10. LAKER FOOTBALL Varsity Practice Expectations 1. ALL Varsity/JV Players will practice on Saturdays, this is NOT Optional 2. ALL Varsity/JV Players will practice on Labor Day and MEA Vacation days, this is NOT Optional 3. Players late to practice, meetings, or lifting will only be excused if there is Prior approval 4. Missing Practice – Excused or Un-excused may affect starting or playing time WE NEED OUR PLAYERS AT PRACTICE Prior Lake Football Discipline Plan – Three Strikes…

LAKER FOOTBALL Parent/Player Handbook – Other Items Varsity Lettering Policy - Requirements: PLAY, youth camp, quarters limit, academics, etc. Strength and Conditioning Expectations - Strength training is a positive lifestyle choice and the earlier a player commits to Strength training, the more success they will have as an athlete. Program Philosophy - Athletes are encouraged to make wise choices on how their free time is spent to ensure their bodies are getting the much needed rest and recovery they need as a result of playing a tough, physically demanding sport. *Complete Player Handbook located on football website

  12. LAKER FOOTBALL • Earning Playing Time • TRUST • - Can coaches and teammates trust this player? • COMMITMENT • - Is this player committed to the team year round? Positive Daily Choices • - Is this player been involved in all off-season weight training and TEAM functions? • - What type of Leader is this player? • WORK ETHIC • - Will this player work hard at all time? • - Will this player be fully engaged in practice or a distraction? • PHYSICAL SKILLS • - Is the player physically capable of being a competitive player at the 5A level? • - Has this player worked hard in the off-season to physically prepare himself for demands of football? • - Has this player worked hard enough to set himself apart from other’s competing for his position? • MENTAL SKILLS • - Does the player understand the techniques used in his position? • - Does the player understand his role and responsibility to the team? • ***Player Personnel is discussed and evaluated constantly at all levels***

  13. LAKER FOOTBALL • Parent/Program Relationship • 1. Communication • - Make note of important dates • - Any Issue – Please use the proper lines of communication: • #1 - Talk to your son • A. Have your son talk to his Position Coach or Grade Level Coach- 99% of issues can be resolved • B. Set up a time and talk to your son and his position coach or Grade Level Coach • C. Set up a time and talk to your son, his position coach and the Off/Def Coordinator • D. Set up a time & talk to your son, his position coach, the Off/Def Coordinator & Head Coach • E. Set up a time and talk with the Head Coach and Athletic Director • ***Coaches will not address emails or phone calls about playing time during the season*** • 2. Support • Positive encouragement for your son and the football program. Be a Fan, speak highly of the program. • 3. Motivate • Encourage your son to be as active as he can and work as hard as he can and take full advantage of any opportunity • 4. Involvement • Not only will your son be a big part of this program, but I encourage you to do the same. • We are all in this Together…

LAKER FOOTBALL • USA Football - Head’s Up • Program to Certify Coaches in the following Areas: • Concussion Awareness • Heat/Hydration • Proper Equipment Fitting • Head’s Up Tackling • Prior Lake will be a Head’s Up Certified Program from the High School down to P.L.A.Y. • ALL Youth Coaches and High School Coaches will be Certified

  15. Livin’ Right The Laker Football Program has adopted the philosophy of “Livin’ Right” which promotes positive guidelines to living a positive lifestyle. The moreplayers we have on board with our philosophy, the more success we will have both on and off the field. This philosophy promotes a Winning Culture, something we all want. As a program, we are taking and active stance on the expectations we place on our players who want to be part of the program.

LAKER FOOTBALL • 9th Grade Parents • You are responsible to set up, run and break down the concession stand and merchandise booth at the Blue/Gold game and all Varsity regular season and playoff home games. First game moved to Friday the 29th. • We expect about 70 to 80 9th grade players so each family is required to put in 1 shift for the entire year. Most of you have signed up already on DIBS. LAKER FOOTBALL • LABC • The LABC is the Booster Club that supports ALL of the Laker athletics and activities. • Key Fobs for sale tonight. • Support Athletic office with many programs and $ • Vital to the continued success of the Athletic Dept and Football • We would not have been able to get the scoreboard with out the partnership of the LABC and PL Football. LAKER FOOTBALL • FORD – Drive for Cash • This is a huge, huge opportunity for us to raise easy money for the program. • EACH PLAYER MUST HAVE A PARENT SIGN UP AND DRIVE! • Test drives at PLHS before the Homecoming game vs Farmington • 4-6:30 pm • 5-7 minutes test drive • NO HARD SELL • 300 test drives will get us $6000 from Ford! • Parents we really need you to step up • Sign up for your time on DIBS • Visit priorlakefootball.com for more information

LAKER FOOTBALL • Varsity Team Dinners • The TD club has set up 5 dinners for the entire Varsity Team • $35 per player total for all 4 dinners • In the HS right after practice • Please pay Nancy Hart tonight and if you are willing to sponsor a player that can’t afford it, we are looking for those donations too. • Also, We are in need of about 5-8 parent volunteers to help out with each dinner, to help with set up, serving and clean up, as well as bring a desert and/or beverages for the players. • Please see Nancy in the back hall right after the meeting • Visit priorlakefootball.com for more information
