They were one of the groups involved in the genocide. Stalin wanted to destroy the Ukrainians that did not want to follow his rule and wanted to seek independence.

  3. What groups were involve in the genocide? Who were the perpetrators and who were the victims? The victims were the Ukrainian people. The Soviet Union took all their food and the their harvest. Perpetrators - Joseph Stalin (soviet union) Victims - Ukrainian people

  4. Where did the genocide take place specifically? The genocide took place in Ukraine. The Ukrainians were sent to Siberia to concentration camps. The Ukrainian language was forbidden in Russia. The parts in red are where most of the genocide took place. The areas in yellow weren’t affected by the genocide.

  6. How was the genocide carried out ? More than 75% of all the food And harvest from the farms were taken Byorders of Joseph Stalin. They blocked off the borders of Ukraine so farmers could not find food elsewhere.

  7. Why is this genocide important today? The genocide is important today because of all the killing that happened in Ukraine. Since the U.S recognized the communist government then we know that no killing or genocide will happened in the United States.

  8. Why is this genocide important today? Other countries might also recognize the problems in this genocide and work harder to prevent that from happening in their country. It is also important because now they won’t do it again.

  9. Survivors personal accounts • "In 1932 and 1933 Kyiv seemed like a paradise to nearly villagers who had been stripped of all they had by the Soviet government. • There were cases where mothers had gone mad and killed a child to feed the rest of the family. • Trucks driven by policemen or Communist Youth League members, mobilized for the purpose of going around andpicking up bodies or carrying those still alive somewhere outside the city limits.  It was especially terrible to see mothers whose faces had turned black from hunger with children who no longer cry, but only squeal, moving their lips in an attempt to find sustenance where there was none.   People sought salvation and found death.  I saw these things as  I walked to work through the Haymarket on Pidvil'na Street near the Golden Gates and Volodymyr Street."Varvara Dibert - Genocide Survivor • http://www.ukrainiangenocide.com/survivors.html Varvara Dibert was a survivor of the Ukrainian genocide. She said this in a testimony against the soviet leader Joseph Stalin.

  10. Interesting facts • At the height of the Famine Ukrainian villagers were dying at the rate of: • 17 per minute. • 1,000 per hour. • 25,000 per day.
