Why tickets? • Reserve reservations in the future • If GetTicket immediately followed by RedeemTicket, then what’s the point? • Not a core mechanism, yet… • PLE: experimenting with reserving nodes • VICCI: GACKS resource allocation prototype • John Hartman/Scott Baker • Supports resource reservation (CPU, memory, disk) • Building calendar on top of GACKS • Bad if tickets mandated, require a particular resource allocation model
