  1. Methods To Measure The Strength Of Concrete

  2. Introduction Concrete is the basic building material of both residential and commercial buildings. It is the basic layer that provides strength to the structure of a building and binds the materials together. Therefore, it is crucial to check the quality of the concrete being used because its strength might be reduced by mixing of impure cement.

  3. Rebound Hammer Test A specialized spring release mechanism is used to do hammer test, in this method the strength is determined according to the rebound distance between concrete and hammer. This is the most commonly used onsite testing method due to its simple process. However, you will require accurate measurements from some pre-calibrated samples.

  4. Pull Out Test In this testing approach, concrete strength is checked by using small rods which are either post installed or cast in place on the concrete surface. The roads contain small elements on the exterior end which is pulled to determine the stress load level of the concrete.

  5. Drilled Core Test The drilled core test is one of the most effective methods of concrete testing. In this method, the slabs are drilled from the slabs to extract the concrete which is then compressed in a machine to measure its strength of the surface. This approach provides accurate resultsbecause the test samples are tested to the curing condition and actual thermal history.

  6. Cast In-place Cylinder Test In this method the cylinder molds are filled with fresh concrete which remain in the slab of concrete until the molds are hardened. Henceforth the cylinders are removed and compressed to measure the strength of the concrete.
