  1. Lesson 23Act IV Scenes iv-V Purpose -to analyze characterization and conflict -to interpret a text

  2. Warm Up • On the half sheet of paper your received, circle the quote that you like the best. Turn the paper over and explain why you picked that quote and what the quote is saying (3-5 sentences / one paragraph).

  3. Read Scene IV & V • Let’s finish up Act IV!

  4. Sage and Scribe • What is a sage? • What is a scribe? • There are pieces of paper around the room and you will be split into partner groups… what do you think your assignment is?

  5. Character Playlist • It’s time for some creative thinking! Let’s jam to some tunes. Get your phones and MP3 players out!

  6. Honors: Questions of Theme • You will be split into 5 groups. Each group will be given 1 theme that can be found throughout Romeo and Juliet. • On the giant sheet of paper you are given, list the theme at the top. Then on the left side of the paper list examples of where that theme is present. On the right side of the paper, explain how the example supports the theme. (You must have 3-4 examples).
