  1. SIMPLER BUT BRIGHTER: FACEBOOK MESSENGER GETS A NEW LOOK

  2. It is the start of a new year and with it comes the new Facebook Messenger update. Originally announced last October 23, 2018, the redesign finally arrived in cellphones on January 9, 2019. The changes primarily focused on simplification, navigation, and personalization. However, what are the exact changes that occurred to it? Here are the results of the popular application’s ‘new year, new me’.

  3. Starting off, on top of the list of modifications is the number of tabs that can be seen on the lower portion of the application after launching it. They are now reduced to three, namely, “Chats”, “People”, and “Discover”. On the “Chats” tab, you can see your messages, a camera button for your instant selfie needs. For the “People” tab, you will be able to see who on your friend list is online, plus the stories that they posted for the day. If you get tired of talking to people at the moment, you can still do other stuff by going to the “Discover” tab, where you can find news, get up to date with latest deals, do travel reservations, and more. You can also find games there, so if you are worried about missing Everwing, do not fear because it stays.

  4. Moving inside an individual chat or group chat, the conversation can be a lot more colorful now, literally. Aside from the old changing nicknames and emojis, Messenger 4 is introducing Color Gradients. This meant that the chat bubbles no longer have to be locked on a single boring shade because through gradients, scrolling can cause the color to change depending on what you choose. A fun way to match the mood to the physical appearance of the chat, no? There may be some things missing in the application like that “dark mode” promised by the developers, but what matters most is that the Messenger we all knew and loved is still there. It may have changed in appearance but it still keeps us connected to the important people in our lives.
