  1. The School Prom Can we make it work?

  2. Student survey - Price • From the survey I carried out I found out that the best price to charge was £15. The price is the most important factor to people (69%) so it must be set correctly.

  3. Student survey - venue • Most people (45%) favoured a marquee and although fewest people wanted the Prom at school (21%) it would make sense to have the marquee at school as there is no cost for using the field. The only way we could have it in a hotel is if we charge £25 and only 16 people were happy to pay this much.

  4. Most people were in favour of hot food and we could provide this by using the school’s kitchens. Student survey - food

  5. Food costs • By catering ourselves (actually, mums, dads & teachers that volunteer for free!) we will be able to cater for the whole event for under £326. This includes plates and cutlery.

  6. Entertainment • Most people wanted a DJ rather than a live band (66%). We would need to add a dance floor to the marquee but we could make this smaller or larger depending on the number of tickets sold.

  7. Final costs • 107 people of the year said they would come. We could break even with a marquee, a disco, and self-catered hot food for a ticket price of just £13. • I would suggest charging £15 as this is what most (75%) said they would pay. This would give us some in hand if costs go up or if less than 107 come.
