2. About Oasis Movement Oasis means fertile, green and lush watery land region in dry and plain desert. Oasis Movement aims at propagation of various concepts and lifestyle for development of better human-being and better society. At present it is spreading the concepts of Character Building, Self Leadership, Values & Principles of Living meaningful life in various parts of the country and world. Journey So far.... • In 1989, group of 10-12 enthusiastic youths started an informal group. Gradually it became a bubbling Self Development Circle of some 250-300 youths. • Informal organization “Oasis - a University of Love, Life & Friendship for Youth” was set up and Oasis was involved in dozens of Social Welfare activities. • In 1993, it got registered as a Public Trust : Oasis – A Selfless International Society (O.A.S.I.S.). A strong core team consisting of fresh doctors, engineers, artists & likes, dedicated their prime life-years to create a youth movement for social transformation. • After about a decade, 1999 onwards, Oasis grown from an organization into a movement. Keeping Character Building at the core, Oasis is active through various organizations working for different social causes. • Oasis spread all over Gujarat (H.O. at Vadodara), and also in regions of Mumbai, Bangalore, Los Angeles (USA) and Washington DC (USA). • Core team of 15 members, fully dedicated to this work and @ 150 team members with them OASIS VALLEYS

Major Activities with Projects • Oasis Movement for Character Education, • under which- • Life Education & Self Leadership Workshops Achievement : 300 workshops, 10000 beneficiaries • Partnership Projects for Positive Changes in Organizations Achievement: Useful contribution to 25 Organizations • Publishing & Promoting Literature on Character-building & Community-development Achievement: 56 Publications, 6 Lacs Copies printed • Health Awareness & Education, • under which- • ”Adolescent Students’ Health Alternative (ASHA)” project Achievement: 21 schools, 1375 students • Health Centres in Slums Achievement: 2 Slum Health Centres, 15000 beneficiaries • Yoga & Healthy Life Style Promotion Programs Achievement: 30 teachers trained, 5000 beneficiaries • Sustainable Lifestyle Promotion through ‘the OASIS Shop’ Achievement: 100 families as beneficiaries OASIS VALLEYS

5. Oasis Valleys –University Extension for Nation Building GUJARAT Ahmedabad Vadodara Oasis Valleys Narmada River Rajkot Surat • Project Details: • 1. Located near village Chanod, 55 kms • away from City of Vadodara. • 9 Acres of Wasteland, Contours • of 20 m (60 ft.) difference. • Core group friends of Oasis Movement • purchased the land collectively in 2002. • Organic Farming started in 2003, • 3500 trees planted & nurtured since then. • 5. In January 2006, the design for Institute • was finalized. • 6. Pre-construction Landscaping & Plantation begun in April 2008. • 7. Completed all Legal Formalities for Construction by August, 2008. Oasis Valleys Institute: • “Oasis Valleys” is perhaps Asia’s first Institution of its kind for Character-building and Scientific Human Development Courses. • Oasis Valleys is a Project of creating a sustainable Model institution for Nation Building. It is a Social Partnership to create better human beings, better organizations, better society, better Nations! • The Project is undertaken by Oasis - A Selfless International Society (O.A.S.I.S.), a registered Public Charitable Trust. Oasis Valleys Objectives: • To create a unique multi-sector model for a better society through entrepreneurship in social development. • To create a live emblem of optimum utilization of natural resources – be it soil, water, sun, wind...and the first and most important amongst all – HUMANS! • It aims at creating a place for scientific transformation of people into contributive citizens (who willingly contribute collectively for social / national development) • To facilitate the process of Learning and Teaching/Sharing the concepts of Self - Leadership for development of different communities of the society (Urban as well as Rural) at a larger scale. • To encourage Social Welfare Entrepreneurships and Partnerships for social development. Vision of Oasis Valleys: • “Oasis Valleys” will give Intensive Character-building Training to 2-3000 people within first 2 years of the creation of the institute. • The message of Character-building will be reached to 10,000 people by these 2-3000 people (through local workshops/sessions). • By 2010 it will be reached to 50,000 people through the training of 25 Facilitators & with the help of Patrons of the institute. • Institute will be working approximately 300 days in a year and approximately 100 workshops of 2-3 days will take place in a year. • 80% Workshops from these will be Charitable (Non-profitable). Income from other workshops will also be utilized for charitable cause only. OASIS VALLEYS

Why Contribute to this Project • We need license to drive a car, but not for marrying! • We need years of education for being employed but not for producing & rearing children! • We are taught how to speak, read, and write but not how to listen & understand the other person. WHY? • Being formally educated is not the guarantee for happiness today. • There is no alternative to being a good human and so education for character building is very, very important. • It’s easy to contribute for religious or emotionally appealing projects. • It requires lot of thoughtfulness to contribute for investing for bettering human beings. We all have power to transform the society. Our decisions and actions can create a better society.
