  3. Background of the program • The world popularity of learning Mandarin Chinese has expanded massively in recent years in an aggressive manner. Studies show that over 2,500 universities and colleges in 109 countries around the world provide students with Chinese courses, and just in 3 years, this figure rose to more than 40million. • China is emerging as a world economic & political powerhouse, and gaining significant clout over the world, therefore, to embrace & master Mandarin language to enhance one’s cross-boarder mobility, is becoming a strategically critical skill to change one’s business horizon and career prospect. • This is a joint program initiated by College of Foreign Languages & Literatures, Tamkang University and Yes! Mandarin, and co-executed by Tamkang University Chinese Language Center aims to cater for worldwide students by providing an exceptional academic experience and organizing social and cultural activities and excursions to help students to learn more about Taiwan, its people and culture. • One of the most important features of the program is the integration of the online real time learning before and after the immersion program in Taiwan, by native speaker highly certified Mandarin tutor, to facilitate flexibly a non-stop & ubiquitous learning program for serious learners. • Learners from all over the world will be able to enjoy a fun & exciting experiences from a variety of activities & cultural trip incorporated within this Foreign-Language-Aided Mandarin Learning Immersion Program. • Yes! In the light of increasing Mandarin learning market trend, College of Foreign Languages and Literatures successfully join hand with Yes! Mandarin to establish a new curriculum to prepare and develop own faculty students with second foreign language capacity an alternative ability to teach Mandarin. Yes! Mandarin Yes! Fun Taiwan ! • Program offer includes : • Online learning program before and / or after immersion program : 40 hours of online real-time learning are incorporated to form a solid learning foundation. • Airport transportation : Free airport pick-up or drop-off service (only available for groups with over 15 participants.) • Accommodation : Students are arranged as per actual availability of dormitory options mentioned. • Meals : 3 meals daily are served when participants are on campus, in the form of buffet or lunch boxes, and food provision is not available for students boarding off campus,, and those not in campus during free time or field trips. • Mandarin course tuition : Small-classes with highly experienced tutors, running from Mon.~Fri, 5 hours per day (ie., 20 hours / week) Mandarin classes and 8-hour weekly field trips around Taiwan. • High quality books & material to tailor-made curriculum for all-level learners. • Cultural city-tour and one day a week city discovery trip.
