  1. ADA: Area of Rescue Assistance Plan For persons needing assistance during an emergency.

  2. ADA: Area of Rescue Assistance Plan What is an Area of Rescue Assistance? An area, which has direct access to an exit, where people who are unable to use stairs may safely remain temporarily to await further instructions or assistance during emergency evacuation.

  3. ADA: Area of Rescue Assistance Plan Buildings with ground level exits will not need an ARA.

  4. ADA: Area of Rescue Assistance Plan Plan Area of Rescue plans should provide for prompt and effective assistance to individuals whose medical conditions necessitate it.

  5. ADA: Area of Rescue Assistance Plan Building/Floor Coordinator Definition: Individual already designated in your existing emergency evacuation plan.

  6. ADA: Area of Rescue Assistance Procedure During an emergency, the building/floor coordinators may assist/escort an individual needing assistance to the Area of Rescue Assistance.

ADA: Area of Rescue Assistance Plan Self-Identification Persons needing assistance must decide for themselves whether they initially choose to self-identify and request assistance during an emergency situation. Form OFP-209: This highlyconfidentialdocument will be collected and maintained on separate forms and in separate files. 42 U.S.C. 12112(d)(3). Suggested storage: * Keep form in a separate medical file in a different section of a file cabinet. * Keep medical information in a locked box; only designated individuals have keys.

  11. ADA: Area of Rescue Assistance Plan Area of Rescue Assistance Signage ADAAG 4.30.3 et. seq. 1. Must have internationally recognized symbol of disability. 2. Must have Braille translation raised 1/32”. 3. Character height should be 3”. 4. Must have non-glare finish. 5. Sign must contrast with wall. 6. Must be mounted no higher than 60” above finished floor on latch side of door.
