Mentoring 2016 / 2017 • Piloted a new program that consisted of two 4-month sessions • Targets: • To offer a program that is easy to commit to • Provide opportunity for mentors and mentees to shuffleor remain in the same pairs • What we found: • Many participants felt it would be better for a single 5 or 6 month program • The two sessions were a lot of work for all involved andwe want to focus more on enhancing the experiencefor mentors and mentees rather than just making itmore work • Significantly increased enrollment • Looking at developing new program based on a single 5 or 6 month session timeframe

Mentoring 2016 / 2017 • Accomplishments 2016-2017 session • For each session: • 1 kickoff meeting • 1 checkpoint • 1 wrap up • Delivered PDU’s from all three areas of talent triangle • Topics have included • Maintaining a Mentoring Skill Set Inventory - group sharing vs only mentor and mentee. • Outcomes: • Support looking for new jobs and building skills sets • Build a network • Confidence building • Ground mentee in new job - ability to ask ‘how to’ questions in a safe environment

  4. Mentoring 2016 / 2017 • Session 1: 28 participants • Session 2: 12 participants • That’s 40 participants for the year, up from 12 last year • Significant portion of boost could be due to new format being friendlier to schedules throughout the year

PMP Exam Prep • Three Sessions / Year • October 2016 • 15 students • January 2017 • 15 students • May 2017 • 15 students • PMP Exam Prep is one of the primary income sources for chapter • This year registration has been completely full – fantastic news! • Potentially due to changes in PMP exam coming with new PMBOK • Also could be due to superior value of PMI-DHC offering

Professional Development • Emotional Intelligence Workshop • Presented by Geoff Crane • Research Scientist – Emotional and Social • Competencies in the Workplace • 4 Saturdays with 23 participants • Overwhelmingly success and positive reviews • Planning for a Follow-up session • Intended for attendees of previous workshop • Potential to run again in the future based on how well it was received • Agile Course (Future offering) • Inquiring from a potential provider; requested additional information and proposal for Board review

Annul competition between Students at the University level on16 Categories • PMI DHC founded the relationship with other Chapters and PMIEF. • This grew to PMIEF full sponsorship, along with the help of Volunteers from the PMI Chapters in Ontario • Friday and Saturday in January at the Sheraton Hotel Toronto • Friday evening Students and Sponsors networking/dinner • Saturday – All day Judging for the PMI Case Boss Challenge (created by Katy Privett – DHC)

  31. Future City Competition Future City is a project-based learning program where students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future. Frist Year that Canada participated in the competition. Winners from Ontario and PEI went to Washington DC. Competition for Ontario was held at the Durham District School Board in Whitby. Volunteers from DHC, Toronto, Lakeshore helped judge PMI presented the winner of the Best Project Plan Link to the Overview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reRAv9lcWnU

Networking Activity - Barter Jigsaw Puzzle • Activity Part 2 Continued • Time: 10 minutes • Rules: • Small Groups of 5-7 per table • Each Table has a different jigsaw puzzle with the same difficulty level • The goal is to see which group can complete their jigsaw puzzle the fastest • Of course there is always a catch - Some pieces will be mixed around in other group’s jigsaw puzzles. It’s up to the team to come up with a way to get those pieces back. — either through negotiating, trading, exchanging team members, etc. Whatever they decide to do, they must decide as a group • How and what did your group do to complete the puzzle?
