  2. Objectives • References for Study: Gen. 1:1-8:19; 11:1-9, Job 26:13; Ps. 19:1-6; 2 Pet 3:9; • Memory Verse: In the Beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Gen. 1:1 • Aim: To show the creative power and acts of God, the devastating force of sin, the final result of sin, and the grace of God.

  3. The Creation Day One: God called for light and separated the light from the darkness.

  4. The Creation • Day Two: The water on the earth’s surface was divided from the vapors above the earth.

  5. The Creation • Day Three: Saw the dry land appear and the seas set in their places.

  6. The Creation • Day Four: God created the great lights. These were for light, for signs, for seasons, and for garnishing the heavens.

  7. The Creation • Day Five: He stocked the sea with fish and great whales and the air with fowl. All these acts came under the blessing of God.

  8. The Creation • Day Six: God created man in his own image.

  9. The Creation • Day Seven: God rested. Not because of being tired, but because he had completed the task.

  10. The Fall • Gen. 3:1-21 • The creation of God immediately came under the testing of Satan. Man was lured into making a choice between good and evil. He choose evil. • As a result, man fell from God’s favor, and a curse was placed on the entire earth. Because he chose his own way over God’s way.

  11. The Fall • Adam underwent a fundamental change at the fall. • He died spiritually. • His nature changed. • It became the normal for him to sin. • Sin was passed on to all who are the stock of Adam.

  12. The Fall • Because all men everywhere have inherited his sinful nature and therefore, require a Savior. • God’s grace can be seen in the fall. • He clothed Adam and Eve • Promised them that through the seed of the woman the needed Savior would come. • Beginning at that promise, we can start tracing the lineage of Jesus Christ.

  13. The Judgment • Sin never goes unpunished. • God being righteous, must bring judgment because of the sin of man. • Judgments • Man drove out of the Garden of Eden • The life of Cain • The Flood

  14. Judgment • God’s Grace • Long Periods of warning, so that man may prepare for the coming judgment. • Allows for a time of repentance. • God is longsuffering and merciful.

  15. The Confusion of Tongues • Man trusted one another for their security instead of God. • They set out to build a tower and a city to protect themselves. • The tower was to reach God, and be a substitute for proper access to the living God. • It was an effort by man to exalt himself.

  16. The Confusion of Tongues • When the Lord came down to see the work, he was displeased. • The Lord confused the languages of the people and they were compelled to discontinue the building of the tower. • They were scattered in all directions.

  17. Conclusion • The judgment of God is swift and terrible. • Adam choose his way over the Lord’s way. • Cain sinned and was judged. • The people of Noah’s day rebelled against God and were destroyed by the flood. • After man tried to build a tower to show man’s glory and not the Lord’s greatness. Judgment came.

  18. Conclusion • The judgement is overshadowed by God’s Grace. • God will judge, but he will also forgive. • God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” 2 Peter 3:9
