  3. Introduction Activity • Superstitions of wishing is one of the major themes depicted in The Monkey’s Paw • Write 3 superstitions connected to wishes? • Example: (clock at 11:11, blowing out all of your birthday candles, etc.)

The Monkey’s Paw Group Activity • In Groups of 4, each group will determine what information in the Monkey’s Paw they need to complete their assignment. • Groups 1 & 2 will be responsible for Characters & Conflict • Groups 3 & 4 will be responsible for Setting & Theme • Groups 5 & 6 will be responsible for Plot & Point of View

  5. During Reading • Make sure to pay attention to the elements your group is responsible for. Make note in your scribblers regarding your responsibilities. • Yeah, we get to do a group reading again. • Read as much as you like. Everyone did a great job of reading last time. The more you read, the better you will be at it. • Remember to speak up so everybody can hear you!

  6. The Monkey’s PawPost Reading Activity • All groups will conference and complete their given assignment. • Each group will write in paragraph form their part of the Basal Reading. Remember to support your answers! • Each group will present their part to the rest of the class • The end result will be a complete Basal Reading Response.
