  7. What is NLSI? The NASA Lunar Science Institute (NLSI) is… • A virtual institute: Highly integrated teams connected through advanced communications tools • 7 funded US teams, 5 international partners • All things lunar, geared towards the needs of our space program

  14. Citizen Science NLSI is a collaborator with the Citizen Science Alliance, from the makers of Galaxy Zoo, which has had hundreds of thousands of participants online. The next step:

  15. Citizen Science NLSI is a partner in the Moon Zoo project, set to launch very soon. NLSI involvement: • Science Team expertise and advising • Educational & Outreach Efforts • Closed Beta test NOW (ask me!)

  16. Citizen Science Principles • can only be done via human crowd sourcing • will contribute to scientific literature • doable by all (with computer, no fancy equipment required)
